Historical Record Portal
In December of 2021, the Chancery Clerks office started a project to scan deed record books back to 1943 in Judicial District 1, and as far back as 1959 in Judicial District 2. This would allow for a digital record search of approximately 80 years. These records underwent a 2 stage enhancement process which de-skewed the images, enhanced text and signatures, and reversed photostat imaging.
In addition to the deed book scanning, the sectional index books (which are key to title and ownership searches) are also available in the portal. Currently, Judicial District 1 deeds records and sectionals have been released in on the portal. Judicial District 2 records are expected to be released later this year.
Plans to scan Deed of Trust books in both Judicial Districts are currently underway to provide the same search capability.
